Village Green Park

Project Description

The Town of McClellanville’s Old Cemetery Open Space and Pinckney Street projects, now named the Village Green, consists of 4.67 acres. A 1.6 acre parcel is located along Old Cemetery Road and has 1.2 acres of marsh along Jeremy Creek with .403 acres of contiguous highland that contains significant hardwood trees. The 3.07 parcel is located at 5 Pinckney Street with 1.5 acres of wetlands and significant marsh habitat. Both projects sit at the headwaters of Jeremy Creek and at the entrance to the Town from its southern entrance off Highway 17. The Town plans to improve the Village Green with a boardwalk that will provide a linkage between two unconnected sidewalk systems, as well as views of the creek. This will provide the public with opportunities for walking, biking, and enjoyment of scenic views of the creek from a viewing platform that will be constructed as part of the boardwalk midway across the properties. Old Cemetery road is also adjacent to the historic McClellan Family Cemetery and the McClellanville Cemetery.
