Thornhill Farm
Property Description
In 2014, East Cooper Land Trust (ECLT) was awarded $1.34 million to purchase nearly 94 acres known as Thornhill Farm located on Highway 17 North in McClellanville. The property, now owned by Lowcountry Land Trust and managed by Chucktown Acres, is adjacent to 1,000 acres owned by The Forest Service and The Nature Conservancy. The land trust’s goal is to maintain this valuable resource for the Charleston area and provide a public teaching facility to encourage agricultural practices in our community. Historical and current land-management at Thornhill provides an excellent regenerative agricultural model and provides an opportunity to educate the public. Chucktown Acres has a passion for educating and inspiring folks to know where their food comes from, how it is grown, and how it affects everything around us. Currently the farm raises grass fed/grass finished beef, forested pork, soy free eggs, and pasture-raised poultry. The farm store is open Fridays 12pm-5pm and Saturdays from 9am-5pm. Visit the website to verify current farm store hours and find out more about the farm. https://www.chucktownacres.com/farmstore
