Reserve at Meggett

Project Description

The Town of Meggett acquired this 99-acre tract along Highway 162, enhancing connectivity between the rural town centers of Meggett and Hollywood, as well as nearby residential areas. This scenic property offers the public passive recreational opportunities through a network of trails. Visitors can access the trails conveniently near the Hollywood Library or via another entrance off Church Flats Road, making it an inviting destination for outdoor enthusiasts and community members alike.

As part of this project, the Town provided an additional 26-acre adjacent lot to be included in the greenbelt deed restrictions, creating a total 125-acre park. Within this protected area, the Town is restoring, protecting, and preserving two historic African American cemeteries. Interpretive elements will be incorporated to provide educational context and enhance public understanding of their historical and cultural significance.
