Dungannon Plantation Heritage Preserve
Park Description
The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources purchased the 88 acre Clark Tract of land and added it to the Dungannon Plantation Heritage Preserve/Wildlife Management Area located in the Hollywood area off of Highway 162.
Park Activities
- Area designated as an “Important Bird Area in South Carolina” - sites that provide vital habitat for birds using a scientific set of criteria
- Protects one of the top nesting colonies of the federally-endangered wood stork
- Total protected area is over 600 acres including 320 acres of bald cypress-tupelo gum swamp and 323 acres of mixed upland forest
- Several walking trails
- Guided tours for groups can be arranged
- Deer and small game hunting

Charleston County Council awarded the SCDNR $154,000 in Greenbelt Program funding to purchase the Clark Tract portion of this property for public use.
